How Acupuncture

Works

Acupuncture restores proper communication between the brain and the diseased body part while also improving blood flow to the affected area simultaneously. Acupuncture also signals the brain to release endorphins, which are your body’s natural pain killers. This process causes the blood vessels to dilate allowing blood to flow into the targeted area.
If there is an obstruction of blood flow to any area of the body, that area will malfunction. This is the root cause of pain and disease. The body cannot heal without proper blood flow because the healing components in the body live in and travel through the blood.

Distal Acupuncture

At Vitality Acupuncture & Natural Medicine, we specialize in a specific style of acupuncture called Distal Acupuncture. The advantage of using this method of acupuncture is that we generally do not insert needles directly into the area where our patients are experiencing pain/symptoms, which can potentially exacerbate the problem. We primarily insert needles in our patients from their elbows to fingers and knees to toes.
The Distal Acupuncture method often alleviates pain within a few seconds after the needles are inserted. Longer lasting results are commonly achieved over a planned series of acupuncture treatments.

What To Expect

QUICK & PAINLESS – the acupuncture treatment is quick and painless. You should feel nothing more than a slight pinch at most. You’re generally in and out of the office in 30 minutes.

COURSE of TREATMENT – the number of treatments you will need will vary depending on your specific condition, how long you’ve had the condition, and your overall health.

PROCESS – the acupuncture treatments are repeated 1-3 times a week until the desired result has been achieved. A maintenance program is often recommended to prevent relapse.
